Claudel

Camille Claudel (1864-1943) Camille Claudel’s dramatic life is inextricably bound up with that of Auguste Rodin, her lover and inspiration. However, the affair with the already famous Rodin proved destructive for the passionate, idiosyncratic and talented artist. She failed to emerge from his shadow and was forced to share him with other mistresses. Ultimately, she broke up with him and attempted to plot her own course. Unfortunately, her mental health rapidly deteriorated. In 1913, destitute and confused she was admitted to a psychiatric institution where, 30 years later, she would also die.
